Welcome to chiltern yurts

About Us

Nestled at the foot of the Chiltern Hills in a treelined amphitheatre lies the small boutique glamping meadow of Chiltern Yurts.

Our luxurious and enchantingly authentic Mongolian yurts are ideal for a country retreat to relax and unwind in an idyllic setting. Go to sleep beneath the stars peeping over the ‘crown’ skylight and wake up to a tranquil oasis of nature and birdsong.

Surrounded by beautiful rural countryside, including miles of tucked away footpaths alongside the Grand Union Canal and Tring Reservoirs, ideal for walking and cycling, and abounding with wildlife.

Only 35 miles from London, escape from the city for a long weekend, or stay a while longer to fully savour the delights of the countryside.

About the Yurts

Our unique and spacious yurts are entirely hand made and imported directly from Mongolia. Authentically designed and crafted, with colourful hand decorated woodwork, the cosy interiors are rustic and comfortable. The felt linings offer a truly luxurious experience. What really distinguishes an authentic yurt from other canvas structures is the stunning crown wheel at the centre of the roof and the solid wooden door instead of a zip!

Each yurt is self-contained, offering a private loo and shower hut, and its own cooking facilities including a BBQ and fire pit. Our guests are assured plenty of privacy and space to enjoy.

Around Us

Situated on the edge of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there is so much to explore and so many places to visit.

Eating & Drinking

"You meet a better class of person in pubs" - Oliver Reed

Within easy walking distance of your yurt you are spoilt for choice for old English village pubs serving local ales and excellent food.

The more contemporary Waters Edge cafe, situated on the Tring reservoirs, offers all day brunch (& the best freshly baked cinnamon buns), as well as small plates and a wine bar in the evenings.

Fine dining is available in the renowned Kings Head in Ivinghoe and there is a fabulous variety of bars and restaurants in the local market towns of Tring and Berkhamsted.

Across the field lies the village of Wilstone, which along with The Half Moon pub, has the extensive Meads Farm Shop with on site tearoom and Puddingstone Distillery producing its Campfire Gin. Or pop-in for a guided tour of the award-winning Tring Brewery selling its legendary Hertfordshire beer.

Boots, Bikes & Boats

"Everyone who wanders is not lost" - J R Tolkien

Countless countryside and canal walks through the classic Chiltern landscapes include the Ridgeway National Trail across Ivinghoe Beacon. For those keen cyclists, the Chiltern Cycleway is an ideal opportunity to take in the local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Take a trip on the canal for a day - why not hire your own canal boat at Narrowboatdayhire.com?
